Kidde PLC - Document Management Case Studies

Kidde plc is a fire safety equipment manufacturer located in bright, spacious offices in Colnbrook, Berkshire. Deborah Short has been with the Company since April 2001, and has been the secretary to the Marketing Department since January 2002.
She has been delighted with the Canon iRC2105 copier/printer that they had installed at about that time. Kidde had looked at Xerox and Canon colour machines but the iRC2105 came out on top for copy quality.
Deborah remarked that the installation had gone smoothly, the machine was delivered in the morning and John Flack, the Falcon IT specialist, came along in the afternoon to incorporate the iRC2105 onto their network and to provide basic training. Suzanne Smith from Canon supplied more comprehensive training.
Like any busy marketing department Kidde write lots of Microsoft Powerpoint presentations as well as downloading maps and hotel information from the internet. The iRC2105 prints them in full colour at 28 pages per minute. They also find it useful for Word and Excel.
The end of March saw Kidde's year end and the Marketing and Secretarial Departments were put under pressure to supply a presentation on their results. This presentation was to be delivered to the subsidiaries in a series of road shows, by the Managing and Financial Directors and had to be available by 23rd March.
Deborah said, "The iRC2105 provides great copy quality and the Command Workstation software is absolutely excellent as it allows complete job management letting me preview, merge and edit entire documents. I can add or delete specific pages and combine Word, Excel or graphic files, I can then preview how these documents will look when they are finished. To get this presentation out we could not have managed without it."
